Angelo Mei, LMFT, CADC II

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Angelo Mei is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor who specializes in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for anxiety, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and addiction. His integrative approach combines mindfulness and exposure-based practices to help clients move from avoidance and fear toward connection, purpose, and psychological resilience. He helps clients cultivate emotional regulation, process grief, and strengthen relationships through values-based action.

Before joining Coastwise, Angelo spent five years working with teens and families at Visions Adolescent Treatment Center, focusing on addiction, family systems, and attachment. He later helped design and develop the Coastwise clinical program, where he now provides innovative, evidence-based therapies in both individual and group settings.

Angelo’s path into behavioral health began in an unexpected place. As a former documentary filmmaker and television producer, he contributed to A&E’s Emmy-nominated series Intervention and MTV’s Made. While filming Intervention, he experienced a turning point—realizing that with the right training, he could make a more direct impact on those struggling with addiction and mental health challenges. After more than two decades of personal sobriety, he continues to draw from that lived experience to bring empathy and authenticity to his work as a therapist.

Outside of work, Angelo is a lifelong surfer who finds renewal in the ocean. He enjoys film, cooking, and spending time with his wife and young son.
