What it is like to work with Angelo

Angelo's style is warm, direct, and evidence-based. Sessions are collaborative and engaging, balancing genuine insight with practical tools. Clients are supported, but also thoughtfully challenged to move beyond simply understanding their struggles and toward taking meaningful action.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) forms the foundation of his work, helping clients change their relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions rather than being controlled by them. Depending on the client, he also integrates Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), attachment-based therapy, mindfulness, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and family systems work.

Clients often appreciate Angelo's honesty, practical feedback, and ability to bring humor into meaningful therapeutic work.

From television to transformation

Before becoming a therapist, Angelo spent years producing transformational television, including the Emmy Award-winning series Intervention and MTV's MADE. Watching individuals and families navigate some of life's hardest moments left a lasting impression and eventually led him toward a career where he could play a more direct role in helping people change their lives.

Throughout his clinical career, Angelo has worked in both private practice and addiction treatment settings and has also served in a Program Director role. Being in long-term recovery himself, he brings clinical expertise and lived experience to his work, along with a genuine belief that lasting change is possible.

You don't have to have everything figured out before you begin. My goal is to create a space where you feel supported, challenged, and genuinely hopeful about what's possible.Angelo Mei, LMFT, CADC II
